We held our first round of the MG Ulster Centre Championship at Delamont Country Park on the 10th March 2012.

A new idea that the club commitee had came up with was to run a beginners tutorial in the two hours leading up to the event which would help new drivers get to grips with the techniques and manovers that are useful when competing in an autotest.

Ten drivers turned up to the tutorial which was taken by Will Corry and George McMillan along with other supporting drivers giving tips where they seen necessary. All the drivers found this very useful and most commented on how it helped alot in the autotest that followed in the afternoon.

The afternoon autotest got under way at 12.30 which saw the drivers take to two tests completed four times each and at the end the two carparks were joined together to become one long, flowing test which could be completed twice but was not counted into overall results.

James Wilson took lead from start to finish in his Mini finishing 38.2 seconds ahead of second place Michael Workman in the Westfield, third going to Paul Blair 7 seconds behind Michael dispite fuel problems with the Nova causing it to cut out during tests.

Mark Faulkner - Test 9

Our first autotest of the season and a round of the MG and Novices championships will take place on 10th March at Delamont Country Park, Killinchy. Signing on 11.30am and starting at 12.30pm. Entries to follow soon.

The MG Car Club will be holding a beginners tutorial before the event. The tutorial will be held in the main car park at Delamont and will start at 09.30am. Beginners are welcome to attend, with their own cars, and will be walked through the basic skills of autotesting from some of our top drivers in the MG Car Club covering rear and front wheel drive.

There is no additional cost for the tutorial, just the entry fee for the autotest, and beginners and will be able to put  some of their newly learned skills into practice and towards becoming a good autotester.
